Spring 2015 VISAS Program’s International Mixer takes place tomorrow night!

Thursday, February 5th from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM
Newcomb’s Kaleidoscope Room


Complimentary refreshments and food will be served. Come by for fun icebreakers, games, and casual conversation! VISAS faculty, interns, language learners, and volunteers will be there. You will be able to meet international language learners from all over UVa’s international community. All are welcome to attend. We look forward to seeing you tomorrow night!

VISAS DROP-IN WEEKLY THURSDAY CONVERSATION HOUR – Our optional weekly conversational hour begins next week and takes place every Thursday in CAB 232 from 7:00 to 8:00 PM.

SPRING 2015 VISAS VOLUNTEER TRAINING ORIENTATION TONIGHT

Spring 2015 VISAS Volunteer Training Orientation is tonight from 8:00 pm to 9:30 pm!
If you cannot attend, please contact your program’s coordinator for a makeup training date.


It is crucial that you attend training before beginning your respective roles at VISAS. Please make sure to get in touch with your coordinator or one of the faculty members at caelc@virginia.edu. Thank you for your cooperation, we look forward to meeting all of you tonight!

Makeup trainings are available for those who absolutely cannot make that time. Please contact your program’s coordinator and fill out your program placement confirmation (if you haven’t done so already) before Monday, February 2nd, 2015. Applications for Spring 2015 VISAS Program

Volunteer & Learner roles are now closed.

Make sure to mark your calendars for our upcoming training dates!


Please make sure to check your emails for a confirmation email or an official response from one of our administrators. If you have not yet responded or confirmed your enrollment and you would still like to contribute to our program, please do so as soon as possible. If any issues have arisen or you would like to personally speak to an intern or faculty member, feel free to email us as you can at caelc@virginia.edu. Training is coming up next week so it is crucial that you get in contact with one of our administrators.

The deadline for your confirmation in our program is today: Friday, January 30th.

In addition to this, if you have been accepted to the VISAS program as a volunteer, you must attend a 90-minute training session, agree to fulfill the duties for your position, and touch base weekly with VISAS staff and other volunteers. At the training, you’ll be given guidelines and hints, ideas and resources.

We are now accepting volunteer and learner applications for the Spring 2015 VISAS Program!


If you are interested in volunteering with us, we welcome you to fill out an APPLICATION for any of our 7 ESL positions.

NEW VOLUNTEERS – if you are new to the program and would like to begin volunteering this semester, please click HERE.

RETURNING VOLUNTEERS – if you have worked with us before, and would like to continue volunteering this coming semester, please click HERE.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE LEARNERS – if you would like to sign up for an hour of English conversation a week with a Language Consultant, please click HERE.
